About Us
Introduction from Cerys | Owner of Life As Us:
"Welcome to Life As Us!
I started my own blogging journey in 2020 as an outlet for my own mental health struggles.
After an exceptionally difficult time at university, I found myself struggling to voice how I was feeling to family and friends. However, I quickly found that typing words came much more easily, the word count rising as I poured my heart out to a blank document.
Over the years, I have found blogging an exceptionally cathartic experience. Through having an outlet that I was entirely in control of, my narrative finally felt like my own. This safe, empowered feeling is something I wanted to share; resulting in Life As Us instead of just Life As Cerys."

What is Life As Us?
Life As Us aims to be a safe and empowering space dedicated to sharing the diverse and often untold stories of disabled and/or neurodivergent women, trans, non-binary, gender-fluid, and agender individuals as they navigate life.
Our mission is to create an inclusive and supportive community that acknowledges the unique strength, resilience, and experience of each voice. Through sharing these stories, we aim to encourage people to open up, find a community, and embrace all aspects of their journeys.
This blog is a a place for candid, unfiltered narratives, where we recognise the good, the bad, and the ugly of all of our life experiences. Lived experience isn't always pretty - but it is powerful.

Neurodiverse...what does it mean?
"Neurodiverse" is a term that refers to the natural variation in neurological traits and functioning that exist amongst people. It emphasizes the idea that neurological differences, such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and others, are simply part of the normal spectrum of human diversity. The neurodiversity movement promotes acceptance, support, and accommodation for individuals with neurological differences, rather than trying to squeeze people into a narrow definition of what is considered 'normal' - everyone functions within neurodiversity.

What is a mental health condition?
"Mental health condition" refers to a wide range of conditions that affect a person's thinking, feeling, behaviour, or mood. These conditions often significantly impact a persons daily life and inclusion in society. There are also a very wide range of disorders, including (but not limited to): depression, anxiety, bipolar, PTSD, eating disorders and schizophrenia.
